The founder of mataortizcontact, Peter Chartrand has been a professional potter for more than three decades but over the years has taken time off from clay to work as a photojournalist, with work  published worldwide. 
Now living in Mata Ortiz Peter documents the austere beauty of the Chihuahua desert and it’s people.
